The STORY
Established in 2008, two sisters and their husbands created Playa Chac-Mool. With food created with family and love in mind, Playa Chac-Mool brings the Southeast, specifically Yucatan, Mexican style flavor to St. Augustine Beach. With décor Inspired by the Fiestas De Pueblo (town fest) in the Haciendas (estates) in Merida, Yucatan ,which is where the family is from, this little gem will have one feeling festive all year around. The restaurant is a very small establishment that is owned and operated by the sisters, their husbands, and kids. Sometimes you can even find the sister's dad playing his own compositions around the restaurant.
From the food, social media, waitressing, down to the decoration, our family does everything to keep the place running and welcoming for our guests.

The ChacMool is a precolumbian mexican statue located in all parts of mexico, specifically in the region of Yucatan.
These figures possibly symbolized slain warriors carrying offerings to the gods; the bowl upon the chest was used to hold sacrificial offerings.
